Legend also has it that Mohammed loved and kept Turkish Angora cats. First documented in the 16th century, these elegant cats from the Turkish mountains of Angora (now called Ankara) were the darlings of the French aristocracy. King Philip XVI and wife, Marie Antoinette, allowed them to roam about the tables during court gatherings.
